A DC fan refers to a fan that converts DC electrical energy into mechanical energy by driving the rotation of a DC motor, which in turn drives the fan impeller. The biggest characteristic of DC fans is that they always produce noise when rotating. However, identifying the exact cause of the noise is not easy because many factors affect the noise level, including fan speed, fan size, fan dynamic balance, and the usage environment. One of the most important factors is the type of fan bearing. So, how should one choose the bearing for a cooling fan? Let's learn about the types of bearings. 1. Oil-impregnated Bearing: This is currently the most commonly used type of cooling fan bearing. It uses lubricating oil as a lubricant and friction reducer, suitable for low-speed and small-sized fans. Typically, the lifespan of fans with oil-impregnated bearings is 5,000 to 8,000 hours. 2. Hydraulic Bearing: This bearing is an improvement based on the oil-impregnated bearing. It features a unique ring-shaped oil supply circuit that greatly reduces oil leakage issues. Its lifespan is significantly extended compared to ordinary oil-impregnated bearings, reaching up to 40,000 hours, while retaining the advantages of oil-impregnated bearings. It is currently the mainstream bearing technology, and fans with this type of bearing hold a significant share in the cooling fan market. 3. Double Ball Bearing: This bearing uses two ball bearings. Inside the bearing, several tiny steel balls revolve around the axis. When the fan blades or shaft rotate, the steel balls rotate as well. Because they are spherical, friction is minimal, and there is no issue of oil leakage. The lifespan ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. 4. Single Ball Bearing: This is an improvement over the traditional oil-impregnated bearing, combining sliding and rolling friction. It uses one ball bearing plus one oil-impregnated bearing to reduce the cost compared to double ball bearings. The rotor and stator are lubricated by the ball bearing and lubricating oil, with a lifespan of up to 40,000 hours. Wanhong Electronics (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. has continuously developed and designed various new products (including customized products), covering a full range of DC brushless fans and blowers from 17*3mm to 172*50mm, widely used in automobiles, new energy, drones, servers, computers, power supplies, communications, office equipment such as projectors (including pico projectors), copiers, printers, as well as industrial control, medical devices, aroma humidifiers, household appliances, and various other industries.
